摘要

Ocean-Umina Beach is located 50 km north of Sydney in SE Australia adjacent to a large ebb-tide delta. As the site is at the potentially unstable interface between a wave dominated semi-open coast location and a tide dominated estuarine environment, the area has experienced episodic erosion and subsequent coastal management works dating back to the 1940s. This paper presents a method combining multiple sources of remote sensing data and linking it to predominant environmental drivers to derive a comprehensive historical analysis of the beaches, shoals and channels within the project area. The methodology was able to quantify morphological changes over time scales of a single storm, seasonal to inter-annual variability, long term erosion/accretion trends and engineering interventions.
