Effectiveness of Aquatic Microfungi (Curvularia sp.) in Reducing Iron (Fe) from Tailing Pond Bauxite Post-Mining Senggarang, Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province
Laboratory experiments were carried out to determine the effectivity of Curvularia sp. isolates based on dilution rate in the removal of Iron (Fe) from broth cultures charged with water from tailing pond bauxite post-mining. The concentrations of Iron (Fe) in the water from tailing pond and tissues of Curvulaia sp. tested were determined before and after mycroremediation studies using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Both the percentage of the Iron removed and bioaccumulated by Curvularia sp. were calculated following standard procedures. It was observed that Curvularia sp. with the first dilution (10~(-1)) was the most effective in the removal of Fe while the fourth dilution (10~(-4)) was the least effective in removal of Fe.
