Effects of Pressure,Shear and Diluent on the Stabilization of Hydrogen-Oxygen Lifted Flames

Hydrogen is a leading candidate as an alternative fuel since its combustion does not produce any CO2 emissions.It is even possible to avoid NOx emissions if pure oxygen is diluted with steam.However,since steam may interfere with chemical reactions resulting in a change in thermochemical characteristics,the effect of steam dilution needs to be investigated.In this study,two-dimensional direct simulations at different pressures are used to investigate the effect of pressure on the stabilization mechanism of the steam diluted non-premixed lifted flames.Results are then elaborated using zero-dimensional homogeneous reactor and found out that steam dilution shifts the behavior of the ignition delay time with respect to pressure.Further chemical kinetic analyses,compared with N2 dilution showed that the high third body efficiency of H2O is responsible for this shift.Lastly,mean shear is added to 2D DNS cases and the initial shear free configuration is confirmed.
