Cloning and Sequence Analysis of BjuCYP1 Gene in Brassica Juncea

CYP gene is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily, which plays an important role in plant growth, signals transduction and defense responsive. The BjuCYPl gene of Brassica juncea was cloned, and then bioinformatics of this gene was analyzed. The results showed that the gene contained a 516 bp complete open reading frame and encoded a protein of 171 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 18.09 kD and a theoretical isoelectric point (pI) of 8.66. Homologous sequence alignment revealed that BjuCYPl was closely related to CYP proteins of turnip and radish, which all belonged to Cruciferous. Subcellular localization predicted that the protein was located in the cytoplasm. This study provides useful information to explore the molecular function of BjuCYPl in B. juncea.
