In Canada today, there is no major systematic program of sediment data collection for river systems, and limited resources are available to mount manual measurement programs. In the Fraser River, BC, a sediment budget is necessary for the management of navigable waters, understanding sediment impacts on ecological habitat integrity, and prediction of the morphodynamics of the river and delta.
