Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN 2A) is an inherited disease caused by mutations in the RET proto-oncogene, and is responsible for the development of endocrine neoplasia. The detection of RET mutation has important diagnosis and therapeutic impacts. The aim of this study was to detect RET mutation in Thai families with MEN2A by Real time PCR technique and to develop SYBR green with melting curve analysis for genotyping codon 634 mutations in the RET proto-oncogene in Thai family. We screened the RET gene in three families (22 patients) with MEN2A, living in the upper central region and north region of Thailand. DNA was obtained from blood samples of all patients. PCR amplification was performed using specific primers for exon11.
