Atmospheric N deposition and P fertility application increase in the world, which significantly affects forest soils. In this study, the effect of N and P addition on soil characteristics in a Cunninghamia lanceolata stand was examined to provide a basis for the sustainable management of C. lanceolata stands. The results indicated that N addition induced significant increases in soil organic matter, total N, available N, soil acid phosphatase and catalase and a significant decrease in total K; P addition and N+P addition induced significant increases in soil organic matter, total N, total P, available N, available P, available K and activities of soil urease, acid phosphatase and catalase.
