The adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation test (AST), often used for the diagnosis of canine hyperadrenocorticism, has a wide range of sensitivity and specificity. Thus, we hypothesized that standardized negative feedback on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-axis will result in large variability in the post AST serum Cortisol concentrations. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the variability in the post AST serum Cortisol in healthy dogs and to statistically examine parameters that may influence Cortisol responses.
