摘要

This study aims to determine usability issues experienced by primary care resident physicians when using an electronic health record (EHR) to improve physician performance. Primary care resident physicians participated in two rounds of usability tests to identify changes in the learning curve associated with the EHR. Sub-task analysis was instrumental in identifying multiple usability concerns. Novices and expert resident physicians experienced significantly fewer usability issues in round 2 than in round 1. These results highlight the areas of difficulty resident physicians with different experience levels are currently facing, which may increase physicians' performance when using an EHR.
