A fire wall usually contains moisture in it. When the wall is exposed to the fire flame, water in the wall evaporates into vapor. The latent heat of water plays important role of the protection of the heat propagation. From this fact, a highly water content wall is expected to show a good fire resist characteristics. In this study, the thermal responses of a fire wall which consists of a porous material and its pore is filled with water, are investigated numerically. A simple one-dimensional numerical model which was developed in authors' previous study, is simplified to reduce the computational parameters. The parametric study is conducted to investigate the effects of the thermal diffusivity, the moisture and the density ratio on the necessary thickness of the wall for three hours protection. The necessary thicknesses are shown in a form of a contour map.
