This paper presents information on the status of worldwide Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) activities with focus on applicable technologies, resulting production rates, number of projects by EOR methods employed and regions of the world, economic performance and technology trends. EOR is making a significant and growing contribution to the world's oil supply, particularly in the USA and Canada. Despite the lower world oil prices since the mid-1980s and the decline in new project starts. EOR production rates have grown steadily. Production rates from gas flooding have sharply increased, chemical flooding has almost disappeard, and thermal recovery has stabilized.
