The Satellite Data Export Vehicle (SDEV) is a conceptual craft to transfer extremely large quantities of imagery data from orbiting satellites to analysts on the ground without the need of a wireless communications network. Space-to-ground data transfer by physical media is not new; it has its roots in the original satellite surveillance programs prior to the adoption of electronic imaging technology. These early spacecraft "sneaker-nets" were extremely inefficient compared to their present day wireless counterparts, but there may be useful applications for them today. Over the last 30 years, digital memory density has improved at an astounding rate, while wireless communication protocols have improved, but not kept pace. Transferring petabytes of information from space to the ground (a daunting task for any LEO satellite) could soon be accomplished easily with the relay of a single device the size of a soda can. By harnessing the advantages of compact digital storage, future space mission designers could begin collecting gigantic quantities of Earth observation data. The feasibility for a modern-day "Satellite Data Export Vehicle" (SDEV) is outlined and the advantages of such a system is discussed herein.
