摘要

This session addresses why Risk Assessments RAs are needed for safety decision-making and to move safety programs beyond traditional Behavior Based Safety BBS principles and practices. RA in all safety processes allows decision-making to be less subjective, emotional and biased. Safety decision-making needs to be based on the comparative risk levels of the options under consideration. Any safety decision needs to be the option for which the likelihood and quantum of benefit and gain outweighs the likelihood and quantum of loss and harm more than for any other option. Which option provides the best chance of gain and benefit at both personal and corporate levels? Using RA allows the shift of focus from behaviors to relationships based on conversations using rigorous language that can move safety programs beyond traditional BBS.
