摘要

GenVault has developed a novel system for the archiving and recovery of dsDNA from blood and other body fluids. The system is composed of a consumable multiwell plate containing FTA~R from Whatman, plc in a proprietary 384 well format. The system includes robotic storage and retrieval of the samples from a storage vault with 800,000 sample capacity. The elements retrieved from the vault and removed from the plates are easily washed to remove waste materials and then eluted at ambient temperature using conventional robotic liquid handlers processing a 96 well filter plate. Multiple elements may be processed in the same well of the filter unit if large quantities of dsDNA are required. The recovered DNA is collected in a multiwell plate below the filter plate using either centrifugation or vacuum. An additional feature of the system is GenCode, a unique method of sample identification that remains with the eluted DNA and allows absolute identification of any GenVault sample. The system is designed to be used for research into genetic links to disease and includes a computer system for operating the vault and linking the samples to de-identified, anonymized patient medical data. DNA recovery and quality information will be presented.
