In this article the electrical potential and field are calculated analytically for a conducting sphere at a fixed voltage and a grounded conducting plane using the method of images. This electrodes configuration has some advantages compared to the usual plane electrodes configuration. The model was applied to fit field emission data of copper obtained in a sphere-plane configuration of electrodes. Simulations with this model provide good insight of the field emission features that is used to understand anomalous behaviors in the Approach Curve Method.
