The overall objective of the PROQUS project is the adaptation and application of advanced control technologies in the process industry, to reduce costs, processing thime and energy consumption, while increasing safety, productivity, and product quality. The main issue of the project is the design of a model-based distributed supervisory system for the inspection of product quality and fault diagnositcs as well as stability and safety of the functionality in the steel milling industry. This paper presents the work of UPM-DISAM in the PROQUS project, a CORBA based distributed tool for design and implementation of multi-agent real-time software architectures.
