摘要

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) in piping systems consumes a significant percent of themaintenance budget in the petrochemical industry. A large portion of this money is spent onexpense items such as external piping inspection, insulation removal and re-installation,painting and pipe replacements. CUI Prevention Strategies provide long term and reliableprevention of CUI that move towards 'inspection-free; maintenance-free' piping systems andsignificant maintenance cost reductions. Prevention of CUI by the use of (1) thermal sprayaluminum, (2) stainless steel pipe, (3) expanded metal cages for personnel protection insteadof insulation and (4) aluminum foil wrapping are discussed in terms of long term protectionpotential, initial installed cost and Life cycle cost.
