摘要

Carbon/carbon composites have been developed using T-800 and T-800 Pyrocoated (PyC) PAN carbon fibres as reinforcement and coal tar pitch as matrix. Composites have been characterised for pyrolysis behaviour, mechanical properties, microstructure and fracture behaviour. As the fibre matrix interactions play cruical role in the overall performance of C/C composites, the role of modification of surface of CFs in altering the fibre/matrix interactions, matrix microstructure development, fracture behaviour and overall performance of carbon/carbon composites have been discussed. The interphase of fibre and matrix has been characterised by TEM.
