Samples of AB_5-type alloys with composition Mm(NiCo)_(5-x)Al_x (x = 0.3, 0.35, 0.4, 0.5 and 1) were synthesized using induction melting method. The X-ray analysis indicates that they posses hexagonal CaCu_5 -type crystal lattice. It was found that the unit cell volume increases with an increase of Al content. The desorption isotherms show that the equilibrium pressure decreases with an increase of Al content and a decrease of temperature. An equilibrium pressure below 1 bar, convenient for MH-electrode application, was obtained with Mm(NiCo)_(4.6)Al_(0.4).alloy. The performed investigations allow us to synthesize alloys with such structure and thermodynamic property suitable for application as metal hydride electrodes in alkaline batteries.
