An analysis of literature data, shows that the more widespread use of polycrystalline Li_2B_4O_7 (LTB) based dosimetric materials is restricted by irreproducibility of the parameters of samples from different technological batches. In our opinion, one of the most essential causes of this irreproducibility is a deviation from the stoichiometric Li_2B_4O_7 composition. This may arise when during synthesis, due to a high hygroscopicity of the initial substances, weighing errors and incongruent evaporation of components during synthesis. However, no studies of the influence of this deviation on the LTB luminescent properties have yet been carried out. In this work, the influence of deviations from stoichiometry on the X-ray luminescent (XL) spectra, and on the intensities and temperatures of maxima in the thermostimulated luminescence (TSL) curves, has been studied.
