A description is given of a method of switched-capacitor controlnfor damping of low-frequency power system oscillations. A form ofnself-tuning generalized predictive control with discrete constraintsnplaced on the control signal is used. The control is calculated on thenbasis only of local network information. Simulation results are shownnfor a nonlinear model for a nine-bus power system
