This paper deals with fatigue of Steel Catenary Risers (SCR)rnand Steel Offloading Lines (SOL) caused by heave-inducedrnintermittent Vortex-Induced Vibration (VIV). The frequencyrndomain models in current use have considerable limitationsrnfor such systems and currently available time domain modelsrnare computationally expensive. The paper explores alternativerntime-domain analysis techniques using wake oscillator modelsrnand a vortex tracking model which gives much of the realismrnof Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques withoutrnthe associated extravagant runtimes. Results are compared forrndeep water systems in GOM and Brazilian conditions
