Through the development and the deployment of an efficient and short term change management strategy, Erasmushogeschool Brussel succeeded to introduce ICT as a leverage to accelerate the innovation of the educational system in its 10 different departments. In two years, this combined approach laid a strong fundament for a coherent and global innovation of the educational system. The ICTO (ICT and 'Onderwijsinnovatie') work and steering team of Erasmushogeschool chose to introduce Blackboard level 1 as a learning environment for all departments, together with a strategy to promote the use of the new tool. This strategy consisted in the organisation of 'encouragement seminars', training sessions and continuous support of individual lecturers. The innovators and early adopters were encouraged to start pilot projects. The majority was immediately introduced to Blackboard by a three-hour hands-on training. This approach neutralised the early resistance towards the new tool and meanwhile created a new pool for pilot projects. These pilot projects act as models for the community of lecturers as results are communicated during 'interdepartemental Bb-workshops'.
