This paper details a study into the effects of teamrndevelopment on team performance. The group to bernstudied was an engineering design class operating inrnan Integrated Product Team environment. Therndesign class was divided into four teams with thernsame specific design task, and each was observedrnbased on accepted team development theories. Thernobservers predicted the winner by ranking the teamsrnbased on their application of team developmentrntheory. An independent expert panel ranked thernteams based on technical merit. The predictedrnwinner was Team A, and the actual winner was TeamrnD. A discussion of predicted verses actual rankingsrnis included.
