A type of automatic data analysis system for high speed photography is described in this paper. The pictures of impact, explosion or high speed movement are recorded by high speed film, and digitized by image processing equipment, with the help of a film transmission mechanism, which can be controlled accurately. Computer programs have been implemented to extract signaled points and do correlative matching in sequential images. Thus, the data representing the movement is derived. Another advantage of this system is that the distortion of zoom lens can be corrected, so the precision of measurement is improved.
