This is a field case study of a microergonomic intervention in a food manufacturingrncompany “where the outcomes and results were better than expected”. This paperrnexplores the enabling factors that occurred following the microergonomic interventionrnand the processes leading up to the company’s approval to spend $ 87 000 on arnworkplace improvement for a purely OH&S justification. Considerable commitment byrna number of individuals, aligned with a culture receptive to innovation has beenrnnecessary to obtain company commitment to this capital expenditure. For ergonomists, itrnoffers a real life view of the time frames, complex interactions of company andrnproduction processes, current and future business goals, staff and cultural factors thatrnneed to be considered in order for our recommendations to be successfully integrated.
