摘要

This paper discusses the organization of sciences, notably the support of theoretical and holistic studies to applied disciplines. I draw an examination by the historical viewpoint, in fact a preliminary review analyzes the relations, emerged during the time, between the information theory and the countless applied fields, which treat information. I start with outlining the history of studies upon information techniques since the classical age up today. My conclusions coincide with modern authors who remark how ancient and present-day theoretical proposals fascinate but are insufficient for the purpose of deducing specific results in technology, in cognitive sciences, in biology etc. from a unitary basis. rnI close with a few inferences derived from a new theoretical hypothesis which, in my opinion, may further the scientific advance.
