GOCE V_(yy) gravity gradients show a signature aroundrnthe magnetic poles when compared to corresponding referencerngradients computed with EGM08. These signaturesrnhave no gravitational origin. This hints at an insufficiencyrnof the GOCE processing chain. In this workrnwe are able to show that cross winds have a significantrnimpact onto common mode accelerations of GOCE.rnThis impact can clearly be related to the signature inrnthe V_(yy) gravity gradients in the time domain, which isrnfurther evidence for a necessary improvement of the inverserncalibration matrices (ICMs). According to the reprocessingrnof the GOCE data, as carried out by the EuropeanrnSpace Agency (ESA), we vary the scale factorrnwithin the ICMs which is mainly contributing to the signalsrnobserved around the magnetic poles.
