Modelling the global gravitational field of the Earth inrnterms of spherical harmonic coefficients has beenrnperformed by a stand-alone inversion of a 4-month setrnof the Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean CirculationrnExplorer (GOCE) Satellite Gravity Gradiometry (SGG)rndata and a 9-month set of the GOCE kinematic orbits, asrnwell as by a combined inversion of the aforementionedrndata sets and 1-year sets of the Gravity Recovery andrnClimate Experiment (GRACE) K-Band Ranging (KBR)rndata and its kinematic orbits. It is shown, in particular,rnthat an incorporation of the GOCE data may lead to arndramatic improvement of the GRACE-based gravityrnfield models. The added value of the GOCE data isrnprimarily attributed to the diagonal components of thernSGG gravitational tensor.
