Knowledge organization systems (KOS) are the keyrnelements for interlinking the values of Linked Datarndatasets. Existing KOS products (including well-knownrnthesauri and classification systems) need to be transformedrninto the constructs of Linked Data services, much morernbeyond what a traditional thesaurus or classificationrnwere/are developed, but how? What can these Linked DatarnKOS bring to various information services? The panelistsrnwill share their experiences and lessons learned. Thernpresentation starts from the processes that have beenrndeveloped to build, maintain, and publish a newly derivedrntaxonomy using W3C SKOS standard, to make it extensiblernand scalable to support new information services inrnscholarly publishing workflow. The next presentation willrnshare experiences and lessons learned from thernimplementation of a platform built for publishing andrndistribution of multiple KOS and for automatic indexingrnusing these KOS. The third case is a Linked Datarnbibliographic service, a RDF-aware system and a mash uprnapplication which relies on the use of a multilingualrnthesaurus that has been published and maintained as arnLinked Data dataset, and has been mapped to more than tenrnKOS. For the datasets that have not used standardized KOS,the panel will present methods that can be applied whenrngenerating or deriving project-focused micro-thesauri fromrnthe Linked Data KOS and give an overview of the use casesrnof Linked Data KOS in information services.
