摘要

While the diversity in social media platforms is a primaryrnmotivation for people to participate in different socialrnmedia services and utilize them in appropriately differentrnmanners, the heterogeneity in formats and platforms canrnalso encumber information gathering and investigation,rnespecially for a researcher who might have to resort to timernconsuming and rudimentary cut-and-paste tasks.rnIn this demonstration we introduce the Social andrnCrowdsourced Activity Extraction System (SOCRATES), arntool developed to help researchers utilize a single,rnmodularly architected, open-sourced, and standardizedrnplatform for collecting social media data from applicationrnprogramming interfaces (APIs), analyzing it with a varietyrnof methodologies, and exploring it via multiplernvisualizations. SOCRATES has been developed as a highlyrnusable social-computational platform that allowsrnresearchers from any background to track, capture,rnvisualize, explore, and analyze large or small amounts ofrnsocial media data and annotations.
