The effects of silica sol addition on the physical properties of silica based castables were researched by using used silica brick particle of 5-3mm, 3-1mm and 1-0mm as aggregates, used silica brick fine power of 0.088-0mm, micro-silica powder and silica sol as matrix.The ratio of aggregate to matrix is 65:35.The results show that the flowability of matrix of silica based castables increases with the addition of silica sol, but when the addition of silica sol is more than 4%,the flowability decreases;When addition of silica sol is about 8%, the specimens possess larger B.D.,smaller A.P.and PLC;CMOR, CCS and HMOR of specimens heated at 11 00 ℃ are better when addition of silica sol is about 6-8%;When the addition of silica sol is about 8-10%, CMOR, CCS and HMOR of the specimens heated at 1450 ℃ are better.
