To remain competitive in global and volatile markets, anmanufacturing enterprise needs to maintain close alignment between thenoperation of its business, social and IT systems. However results of anrecent survey of business process engineering practice in the UK havenshown that large scale IT system change is difficult to cost justify andnachieve within satisfactory timescales. In this context the papernreports on potential benefits and current constraints when using: (1)nenterprise modelling; (2) integration infrastructures; and (3) reusablenbusiness components
