An Excel macro-programming model of the thermalrnbehaviour of open and enclosed swimming pools isrnrun in seven different scenarios of increasingrncomplexity. To secure a swimming season for thernwhole year, the use of a tent, a battery of collectorsrnand auxiliary heat, to cope with winter, is advice. Therntent can be removed or vented from November tornMarch and must be tightly closed the rest of the year.rnAn area of collectors equal to half the pool area willrnavoid excessive overheat and will assure the use ofrnthe pool in the morning during summer. Therncalculated yearly solar participation in energyrnconsumption is 43% for a water temperature greaterrnthan 26℃.
