摘要

We used radar/ERS, MSS and TM imagery to assess the extent of flooding at different time periods (1974-2004), and we correlate this extent as a function of both precipitation, and river discharge. Also, conditions of soil wetness were estimated using JERS radar imagery to represent extreme scenarios of dry and wet years. Then, we compared both flooding extent, and soil wetness again the distribution and plant composition of wetlands. Differences in wetland extent between wet and dry scenarios were about 45%. Natural boundaries created by long-term levels of flooding and wetness change constrain the spatial distribution of aquatic plants, which current spatial location is not explained by existing hydrological patterns.
