摘要

Through Xuanzang's journey to the west and his translated scriptures, the complete Buddhist Dharma was successfully introduced to the East. This has prompted the East Asians to develop an overall understanding of the Dharma, thereby affecting the making of Buddha's statues. The rich amount of content derived from the Buddhist scriptures later became a source of inspiration for other creators. As the ancient craftsmen further incorporated the original local cultural traits into their designs, the Buddhism-related cultural development in different parts of the East Asia region inspired a rich array of innovations. We believe that the translation of the Buddhist scriptures by Xuanzang is a key event of significance, as it enables people to accurately identify the core connotations of the Buddha statues. Such an impact has contributed to the diversity of the Buddhist cultural and creative industries in later years.
