摘要

The commercial building industry is rapidly moving from energy efficiency to the sustainable whole building, which includes everything installed within the building. Traditional codes and standards start with a safety and minimum materials baseline, sustainability codes/standards starts and ends with a philosophical goal. This time it will be different, we are entering uncharted territory, social reengineering, and what is being written will fundamentally change the commerce of commercial buildings. The Sustainable Technology Environments Program (STEP) is a systematic methodology to design, install and operate a sustainable Information Communications Technology (ICT) System in any commercial building. STEP was written to address encourage sustainable design and application for all low-voltage equipment and systems, a shortcoming of existing green building standards and rating systems. This presentation will present an overview of the market trends as an introduction to and presentation on the STEP Rating System. Short Session Description: The commercial building industry is rapidly moving from energy efficiency to the sustainable whole building. Low voltage systems have not been included in either green building standards or rating systems. The Sustainable Technology Environments Program (STEP) is designed to encourage sustainable design and application for all Information Communication Technology (ICT) Systems.
