The microsystem in LTCC (Low Temperature Cofired Ceramics) technology was used to detect an acetone in healthy and diabetes breath preceded by 8-10 h fasting period. The breath samples were collected to commercially available 1.0 L FlexFoil Plus SKC Breath Bags from eight healthy volunteers and ten type-1 diabetes mellitus patients. The microsystem is based on micropreconcentrator in LTCC technology filled with Carboxen-1018 adsorbent material and gas sensor array, which consists of eight commercial Figaro sensors. The obtained results have confirmed that exhaled acetone concentration is higher for diabetic patients, however, fasting period has influenced the exhaled acetone levels. Therefore, cohort studies have to be carried out to validate the results of clinical trials.
