摘要

Sawing of particleboard using a circular saw is one of the common practices in the woodworking industry. Automation of this process is sometimes limited due to the lack of information about the effects of the key variables. Therefore, it is of utmost importance the study of the effects of process variables, such as rotation speed, cutting speed, depth of cut, cutting direction and feed speed, on the cutting forces and sawing process quality. The monitoring of the magnitude of the developed forces is crucial not only to assess the process behavior, but also for controlling process and product quality. A possible quality criterion of the machining process is edge quality. Aiming to study the influence of the machining process parameters on the edge quality of particle-board, several experiments were carried out. Edge quality was then evaluated using an innovative artificial vision system.
