The usage of elastic bonded grinding wheels for superfinishing of bearing rings was investigated. The best roughness values were reached using the smallest grain size F800. A higher bonding hardness leads to reduced radial deviation. An influence of cutting speed on bearing ring quality could not be found. The roughness R_z was improved with lower feed speed though, the feed speed did not influence the tribological behavior. The roughness was improved using oil as coolant compared to emulsion. Furthermore, the material removal rate was enhanced.
