摘要

In this report, the statistical relationship between road roughness parameters and tire/road noise is discussed in order to propose a method of designing a silent pavement. The authorsrnpreviously demonstrated that the height unevenness and spacing of pavement asperities govern the tire vibration noise. A statistical relationship between the amplitude of roughness and tire/road noise was also reported. In this study, Effects of these parameters on tire/road noise are examined for thirteen kinds of actual road surfaces. The results indicate that the height unevenness and the spacing of pavement asperities should be small and that the amplitude should be large for abating tire/road noise.
