This paper describes a risk and cost benefit analysis of a range of measures with the potential to improve passenger safety at the platform/train interface. London Underground Limited recognises that risk assessment can provide a systematic and rational approach to safety management, and can be used to ensure that the risks are managed and controlled to levels which are as low as reasonably practicable (the ALARP principle).
