As part of recent combined sewer overflow control upgrades for Northeast Ohio RegionalrnSewer District, Cleveland, OH, the 24-foot Euclid Creek Tunnel was constructed. Shaftrn3‑1 was constructed as a baffle drop shaft connecting near-surface combined sewerrnflows with the storage tunnel. Shaft 3‑1 initial support consists of a series of 1,180 mmrndiameter, 105-foot long secant piles, in a 20'-9" I.D. array through clayey overburdenrnand socketed into shale bedrock. Standard rock support was utilized extending the totalrndepth to approximately 181-feet. This paper presents the design, construction, andrnperformance of the Shaft 3‑1 secant pile wall shaft.
