The paper presents the investigations of historical spatial building behavior under seismic actions for two limit states, damage control and ultimate limit states. In the first case the cracks of masonry are limited and the elastic FE methodology can be used, in order to determining the weakest parts of building and the efficiency of adopted strengthening method. For the ultimate limit state, Collapse Mechanisms Methodology is very useful in order to determine the measures to strengthening the historical buildings. Some different types of historical buildings are investigated: church, synagogue, mosque and apartment building.
