The paper deals with the importance of knowledge management in obtaining the sustainable competitive advantage (SCA). From the analysis of knowledge based society and globalization characteristics, the requirements that knowledge management (KM) has to accomplish are pointed out. The KM mechanism emphasizes intangible resources like tacit knowledge, organizational culture, innovation potential etc. The part of leadership is underlined in achievement the frame of knowledge transfer and obtaining SCA.
