The case record brought to attention shows that georadar methodology can be successfully used to survey masonry structures. Rapidity of execution, non-destructivity and the possibility to obtain, using the relevant procedures, extensive information on the investigated structure, make of this method a powerful surveying tool for stonework structures. The technological advances of the devices together with the growing experience of operators are leaving little room for the initial doubts and prejudices on this method. It to ke kept in mind, however, that georadar remains a geophysical, and therefore indirect, method that requires a careful analysis of the issues to be faced, being these subject to a significant number of variables. As we have seen, the recognition of metallic elements embedded in brickwork is easily undertaken, while, on the other hand, the definition of stonework texture is not. This is one of the reasons why a synergic use of this and other non-invasive techniques (ultrasounds, pacometer, thermography, etc.) is regarded as conclusive for masonry structure surveying, reducing the amount of direct sampling on constructions and preserving their structural integrity.
