Motion responses of high speed vessels in regular and random waves

摘要

This paper presents the application of a numerical method to the prediction of motion response of high-speed vessels in waves. Especially, the computation has been focused on trimarans. Different locations o the sidehulls as well as differnet speeds have been considered, and the computed transfer functions for the heave and pitch motions have been compared with experimental data. The method of solution is a three-dimensional panel method that uses Rankine sources on the near-field boundary and wave Green functions on the far-field boundary to solve the ship-wave problem in the time-domain. The computational investigation has also analysed the motion responses in random incident waves, and some statistical quantities have been observed.
