摘要

New generation of Standby Flight Instruments has emerged during nineties. Including liquid crystal display, MEMS, pressure sensors and miniature strap-down inertial measuring unit, this new generation of backup flight instrument is now a standard for commercial and business jet aircraft. As the aircraft safety is the main concern of the Standby Instrument existence, attention has been focused on metrologic performances and reduction of non detected failures during the design of these new instruments. On other hand, physical and economic constraints reduce the possibilities for inertial sensors selection. Also, attitude computation algorithms must be adapted to work with low size and low cost inertial sensors. Minimum metrological performances requested by certification authorities have been reached, in despite of the relative low performances of the selected inertial sensors.
