摘要

It's a great challenge, particularly for arid and semi arid areas of developing world, to select and promote activities which ensure economic development and preserve the environment. The challenge is often resume to minimize environmental negative impact, while ensuring economic growth, with sustainable agricultural practices. It is established that, development of the world richness had, in many regards been done with misunderstanding of importance of environment impact. Thus, past human activities have caused serious threat to the environment, at local and global level. In arid and semi arid zones, scares left are profound and present different aspects to be eradicated. The main issues led from imbalance between economic development and sustainable agriculture practices, in the studied area, are impoverishment, famines, pollution, land degradation, climate disasters and flooding. Best practices settled these few last decades, demonstrate how profitable sustainable agriculture is profitable to local and global economic development. This Paper illustrates cultural, social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable agriculture for food, energy and industry, in arid and semi arid areas of Africa.
