The device based on concentrating a very thin beam of laser with certain wave length either from: (1) upwards or downwards of the rice kernel (paddy) placed on a photocell which converts the emitted 'or the resulted hallo of light through or by the kernel into electric current which could be measured. (2) Upwards or side wards of the kernel placed on a special surface. The white endosperm produces electric current higher than that produced by red endosperm (or something else). Kernels with manual made very small window in the hull abart from the embryo were utilized for checking the results with about 95% reliability. This technique could enable rice breeders for the first time to utilize laser as an efficient method for selecting one of the important characters, which some shipments of rice could be rejected as well as for selecting the nutritional very rich red endosperm, which have been obtained as a mutant by the author through gamma rays. Author, tried to extrapolate this technique for selection of other characters in other crops.
